The efforts partly focus on utilizing the region's growing number of highly educated and the potential that they represent, partly on ensuring that there is a sufficient supply of skilled and specialised labour, and partly to ensure the right match between the needs of businesses of the region and the supply of labour.
The level of education is increasing, and a lot of young people choose to come to the region to study.
Despite this, many recently graduated students have difficulties finding employment and some end up leaving the region. Parallel to this, the businesses of the region are starting to have problems recruiting labour with the right qualifications.
Nonetheless, North Denmark still has favorable conditions. Many of the recently graduated students - international as well as Danish - want to stay in the region. In comparison to the other regions of Denmark, the SME's of North Denmark have the lowest number of highly educated employees, and thus the potential of transforming educational efforts into persistent growth is even higher.
