The continuous internationalisation of the region is a key factor in ensuring competitiveness of its businesses.
Increasing the number of international partnerships can be one step towards increased internationalisation. Another step is increased participation in EU programs. EU designates a large amount of funding for research, development, and implementation of new knowledge through transnational projects - funding that has not previously been obtained sufficiently in North Denmark. In the meantime the regional EU funds have been significantly reduced, which is a suitable occasion to review the existing approach.
The municipalities and the region of North Denmark therefore aim to significantly increase the effort for obtaining EU funds and other sources of external funding, for the benefit of private and public sector businesses.
